This is a great place for breakfast! Whenever we goto Miami, this is where we get the most amazing empanadas and churros! Everything is fresh and delicious. The only problem here is that the staff does not speak English very well, so it's a bit difficult to communicate with them if you don't speak Spanish. When you walk in, remember to take a number and they will serve you by your number. The first time we went there, we stood for a while but soon realized what we had to do!

This is the place to be if you want to get Argentine baked goods or those delectable sandwiches while in Miami Beach, FL. They are soooo good and I can eat them everyday, esp. those beef empanadas and chicken sandwiches. Remember to take a number! The ticket dispenser is located in the middle of the restaurant. Spanish would be helpful, otherwise, let the finger do the talking/pointing. Come early in the morning the food are hot and fresh, they open at 7am. Parking is in the street....BUENA SUERTE! (Meter parking) Muy delicioso y sabroso!

facturas galore! So cheap and tasty. Just pick out out a bunch of them and find your favorite. The empanadas are also pretty good. The staff is super friendly too

I've been to Argentina; their beef and chicken empanadas take me right back to Argentina. I'm going back tomorrow to try some of their desserts. The cafe con leche wasn't too impressive; it was hot though. Delicious and authentic!

This place was a mile walk (2 miles round trip) from my hotel...and it was worth it. I ordered a sampling of their offerings. I arrived around 9:30am and the empanadas were still warm. I tried the spinach, ground beef and jamon y queso. All were deliciouso! But if I has to choose a favorite it would be the ham and cheese. I also tried their croissants. The Miami Times voted them as having the best croissants in Miami. I sampled the regular and another covered in powered sugar stuffed with dulce de leche. Both were good but I slightly preferred the simplicity of the regular. It was buttery, soft on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside. I think a key to this place is to get there early when things are still warm. Also, speaking Spanish is not necessary but definitely a plus.

Very good. A variety of sweets to choose from. I'm gonna come back.

I wish there was a closer location to downtown Miami! BA Bakery has a large selection of sweets and deli-type meals (you can also find a small selection of Argentinian packaged cookies, yerba mate, sweets, mates & bombillas if you need); their prices are surprisingly affordable for being on the beach and the place is pretty big for a MIA bakery. I typically go there to get the facturas (the pastries), which I think you can get a dozen for $9.25 or something like that (so less than $1 for each) and to be honest, their taste/texture isn't consistent. Sometimes you'll find them super fresh & perfect, other times not so much. Whenever I don't get a perfect pastry I usually just take it home so I can pop them in the toaster, and then voilá, heaven! Often I get a box of a dozen pastries and keep them in the freezer and toast a couple each morning. And yes, just like everyone else mentioned their sandwiches de miga are pretty legit. Also, I see some people don't like their churros much, but honestly I've never ever found churros in the US like the ones in Argentina, they don't even look the same, but still, I'm not gonna take points off for that, this is overall a great place!

Buenos Aires Bakery was one of the first I visited in Miami Beach. From the first trip, and a year and a half later everything I love about the place has been consistent. The tables, counter and condiment counter are always clean. The employees have always greeted me with a smile and kind attitude. The service has always been great. I have sampled their sandwiches, cafe, pastries and burgers. On top of the important stuff-their prices aren't bad at all. Getting down to the cafe and food-awesome. I have tried a numerous amount of items. Starting off what drew me in-the cafe. Not once has anyone made my cafe anything less than what I requested. And I am a total cafe lover. Its a daily pleasure for me. So, if its not made right, its not worth it. Empanadas: The dough is delish. I tried the onion and cheese. I normally don't dig any but the red onion but theirs were filled with vadalia onion and a bland delicious white cheese that mesh perfectly together. Sandwiches: I don't remember the actual menu name but I tried the veal cutlet sandwich. It could have been a bit juicer and my only other disappointment was that it was dipped in egg before frying. The breadcrumbs didn't have any seasoning either. Over all, it tasted good even with just the tomato and lettuce it came with. Burgers: My friend had a cheeseburger which was to die for. The beef was delicious, perfectly grilled as requested and a nice size. Fries: Great! Not greasy and always served as requested. They give a HUGE portion when you get it as a side with any sandwich. So if its a party of two, I'd say one order is plenty. Pastries: I don't know the name of any of the ones I have tried. But I can tell you all of them had a perfect consistency from inside to out.

I give it 4 stars being that I am Argentine, and the best Argentine food I get it at momma's house :) But this place is delicious, you can't go wrong with almost anything you order, the empanadas are great, my personal favorite are ham and cheese. If you want to take a treat home you can take a dozen or half a dozen of facturas (pastries) home and you can mix and match. Nothing goes better than a movie, un mate and facturas. ohh and btw if you want to try a famous Argentine soda, go to the cooler they have it in cans, "Paso de los toros" it's a grapefruit soda, it's amazingly good!

I stumbled into this place when I needed change to feed a parking meter and boy what a find! The selection of sweets is to die for. They are all so beautiful and it is impossible to just choose one. I ended up having a donut while I waited for my order. For lunch I had a wonderful tuna wrap followed by another pastry. -The café is very casual.

A cafe on the corner of Harding ave and 71st. A small place but packs a punch with the bakery they got. Whether you are in a hurry and have time to dine, check out the delicious sweets. In particular, the Medialunas Croissant de Manteca. This croissant is the best tasting croissant ever. It's going to blow you away with taste. If you can feeling need more than bread, get it with ham and cheese. Lastly, they have an expresso as well so that you can dine with your pastry.

For years they had the best pastries (medialunas and vigilantes) in the USA. Now recently they have an aftertaste of pork fat going bad. Disgusting. We used to drive on weekends from Brickell to get them. We are not going back. I wonder if someone had the same experience or if they have fix this issue.

Great sandwiches, baked goods and tonight I'm going to try to empanadas for dinner. But they looked amazing so I can't wait. Informal, relaxed and very Argie vibe. Soccer on the TV, magazines to read and lots of Spanish spoken. We'll be back for sure!

  • Dr. Jared R.

The food was good, but the service was ehh. We went on the weekend and had to take a number as the place was packed. We got our food and ate outside. The sun was beaming down on us, and out of nowhere an employee opened the two giant umbrellas up! Awesome timing :) I guess the empanada angels were looking after us. I would go back, but probably during the week.

When my family and I vacation in Miami Beach we usually have breakfast or brunch here. We love the steak sandwich and the different pastries or empanadas. This place is always busy..but its so good! Sad that there is nothing in my area to compare. Until next vacation!

  • Sergio M.

There is nothing outstanding about this bakery -- perhaps except for it's location. Tried the baked empanadas which were blah -- would not come back for them. Good place to grab a beer, coffee, dessert nevertheless.

3.5 stars. This is basically the heart of the Little Buenos Aires district of Miami (71st & Collins area). What brought me here were the sweets. They have a HUGE selection in addition to empanadas, sandwiches, etc., but its the sweets are wehatyou come here for. They are delicious! Clientele is immigrant-heavy (tourists and locals)....but it matches the neighborhood. Decor is dated but passable...nothing special. Service is kind of chaotic. They have a ticket system which you'd only notice if you turn around and see, or if you happen to the staff calling out numbers (in spanish of course) This place is a good pit stop if you're craving something sweet on your way to Bal Harbour or beaches to the north. Recommended.

The flan cake is beatifully made, the caramel that tops the flan is the best part of it, so damn flavorful and thick. The cake itself softened quick on the ride home so i wish i opted for the pembroke location which is a little closer. Its a smooth cake and if your a fan of flan you should try it. The fried beef empanada was very good and tasted fresh, the dough was very good and they didnt skimp on the beef. My girlfriend ordered a churro and it was horrible, one of the worst ive tried. Theres a huge pastry selection, many of them look similar in ingredients, but they all look decent. The flan tasted fresh but I'm skeptical of the freshness of the other pastries because there are rows and rows of them and in the back i can see more of them sitting on a rolling shelf. Other than the empanada, the ham and cheese, chicken sandwiches, and any other type of non pastry food looked far from appetizing. Most were sitting under a heat lamp and looked dry. Its a good location near the beach and was steadily busy with spanish folks which is a good sign. Overall its worth trying and id go back if in the area.

Big fan of the pastries & empanada. Especially the onion & cheese empanada!

  • Ben R.

Great food, heaping portions for the price. A huge choripan with fries runs you something like five bucks. A variety of fillings for fresh empanadas (BsAs style, but still really good!) You'd do well to take them home with you to heat up, though. And the baked goods...medialunas, bizcocho, maicenitas...somebody stop me. Friendly and helpful bilingual staff, atmosphere is like many a neighborhood Bs.As . cafe. Great for breakfast or lunch, I'd stop in any time.

  • Shelly H.

Pastries galore! I highly recommend the sweet croissant, the beef empanada, and their tiramasuii. Never frozen, always fresh. Your basic bakery looking from the outside, but inside you will find nothing but fresh bread and baked goods.

  • Tony A.

This is a pleasant bakery. They make very good empanadas of all types, baked and fried. The traditional Argentine dulce de leche pastries are also very good. Cakes look great, but I have not tried any. Staff is friendly enough. Beware of this place on Saturday and Sunday mornings after 930 or so. Madhouse, but it's because the baked goods are so good, which is of course a good thing.

Best place in the Miami/Miami Beach area to get empanadas, coffee, and facturas! I haven't tried anything else but those three things at Buenos Aires Bakery, just fyi. The bakery has a huge selection and everything tastes fresh. My sister and I went recently and had empanadas (she had beef, I had spinach) and pastries (she had a plain churro and I had a factura that was squarish with jam inside). Also, I had an espresso. The coffee was so out of this world good. I drink mine with no sugar and it was smooth and not bitter at all. Another thing that made this bakery stand out to me was how friendly everyone was. The woman helping us at the counter had no problem explaining different pastries or walking back and forth behind the counter as we decided what we wanted. The place was bustling on a Sunday afternoon, and everyone was generally happy and helpful. (ummm, not so common in Miami) Finally, our total bill was less than $10! It wasn't even enough to charge on the credit card, so I got out some cash. I am pretty sure for the same amount of food we have paid at least $15 at other spots. I can't believe it had been so long since I had been to Buenos Aires Bakery. Now that I've refreshed my memory, I'll have a hard time going anywhere else.

Good pastries (elephant ears) but service is too long.

Yummy empanadas! Good selection, and super affordable. I had a couple of pastries and churros and those were great, too. They have a little bit of outdoor seating, so on my first visit, I got an Argentinian beer and some empanadas and sat outside to enjoy the warm December weather. I went back the next day and took a bag of treats to go to the beach. Very laid-back and not pretentious at all.

If you need a sugar fix, this is your place. The pastries are numerous and varied. We have gotten cookies, mouse, pies, and cake from this wonderful little bakery. I have yet to be disappointed. Oh yeah, they have coffee and wine, and some other baked goods, but we come for the sweets!

We came here randomly while driving pass Collins after IHOP was too crowded. I'm glad I came here to get my breakfast even though the ordering is kind of hectic. But when your number is called, the lady behind the counter was so patient with us especially since we were trying to order the whole menu. Everything looked so good. Ended up with spinach empanadas, bacon and cheese croissant, 5 layer sandwich, alfajores, and cafe con leche. I enjoyed everything except for the alfajores because it was too sweet.

This place has great decor and relaxed atmosphere. Huge varity to choose from and the quality is great! I really have nothing negative about this place BUT honestly Moises Bakery one more blcok down have the best empanada Ive ever had. Lots of yelpers complained about ordering here if you arent a spanish speaker, Ive came twice amd didnt experience that. I was going to skip this place due to that being posted so often but glad I ignored it. It is true that at busy times you have to take a number bit Im not one that minds order in life. ;) The latin coffee was perfect! Oh amd free wifi if you are hanging around a bit. Theres plenty of seating inside amd out.

Horrible !!! Ordered a simple steak sandwich almost burnt, overpriced, and long ass wait! Never again!!!

  • Dre B.

Nice little spot that's really big on the inside. Doesn't accept CCs for less than $5 transactions -- they need to fix this -- but a nice overall selection of delicacies. Nothing healthy-level here to eat so know what you're getting into if you choose this place. Haha

Pastries are good. That's about it. I speak Spanish so the servers weren't COMPLETELY rude but my non-Spanish speaking friends did encounter a snide look or two. Secondly, the $5 card minimum (which is illegal in the state of Florida by the way) is STRICT, my other friend's breakfast came out to-I kid you not-$4.97 and they wouldn't take the card. My breakfast, a croissant sandwich (which was half the size of what I expected) plus coffee came out to almost $7. Prefacing my next comment, cafe con leche traditionally comes served with sugar, they served it completely unsweetened. The people I was with ordered 2 croissant sandwiches 30 minutes ago, and they have yet to come out. The kitchen seems to be rolling fine. I'll find another argentine hole in the wall. UPDATE: my friend went up to the counter to ask about her sandwich. She found it sitting there, getting cold, with the 3 cashiers crowded over one register.

The pastries are good the food is okay. The service was terrible if you don't speak Spanish or if you're not Hispanic related they are super racist. The ladies that attend you are horrible with customer service and they treat you really bad and rude no respect whatsoever that is the main reason I'm never going back to Buenos Aires Cafe because of the rude customer service that they have. Please upgrade or train your staff better.

    (1)
  • Juan H.

I'm giving 2 star because of the costumer service they have no idea how that works. plus the treat you rude if you don't speak spanish. I've seen in with my own eyes several times. Tips: remember to take a number or they will ignore you. i rather go to other places nearby that they have the same thing and better coffe

    (2)

Pricey with small servings, but fresh and delicious! If you don't mind paying for quality vs quantity this is the perfect spot!

  • Valentina A.

I have taken many long walks in North Beach and have dropped into this little cafe for some time. However, after careful thought I choose not to enter their doors anymore. While the empanadas and little croissants are truly delicious, I feel that the customer service at this cafe is offendingly poor. If you are not a native Spanish speaker and attempt your best to order in Spanish the ladies behind the counter are simply rude and condescending. They portray an attitude like you are being a bother, they do not smile, they rush you, and generally they are rude. Also, the cafe con leche is just ok and the sandwiches are hit or miss.

    (1)
  • Ramblin S.

Very tasty, very fresh baked goods. I especially enjoyed the empanadas. There was a long wait for service on Sunday morning, but I think that's testimonial to quality, not ineptitude.

    (4)
  • J M.

Nice little cafe in north beach. everything I had was fresh and delicious. The service was outstanding in both English and Spanish. Great location across the street from the ocean.

    (4)
  • David W.

Long lines coffee is not that good. Pastries are quite good but do your self a favor and go 2 blocks north to Moises bakery where the pastries and empanadas are excellent. Nicer staff too.

    (3)
  • Jesus R.

The set-up is a bit of a cluster-you-know-what, but the empanadas are truly delicious. The meat, as it tends to be in Argentine places, was good, but the overall sandwich was okay. Worth going back to, though.

  • Jordan N.

This, to me, is the Don Pan of Argentine pastries - and they're better than Don Pan too. At the same time, they're not the best Argentine pastries I've had in Miami. But the selection here is humongous compared to other bakeries. If they ever decided to make itself a chain, they'll probably do well. I believe it's because of the selection, prices, and the years they've been around that makes this a classic Argentine institution in Miami. They still have not improved much of their crema pastelera recipe, so I'm still coming here for the cream cheese version of the facturas. Try other things as well!

    (4)
  • Jeannie M.

I have been coming here for years and the food, coffee and facturas were great. However, yesterday was a great disappointment. The prices went up and the quality went down. The steak was tiny and the potato salad was old. The service has declined as well; they don't take your food to your table anymore. Now, they just call out your number and ask you to come get it yourself. I won't be going back.

    (2)
  • True B.

Pastries are great. Lattes are over priced. I went here every day for a while and the staff still treated me mean. They are all snotty and rude, and don't speak English and act like they have a attitude that I'm not speaking Spanish. Learn English and get an attitude adjustment.

Excellent breakfast. Perfect scramble eggs. Good pasteries and cafe. Seating inside and outside.

  • Serena S.

Affordable, efficient, a little hectic, and totally delicious. This is my go-to place for my cafe con leche, cortadito, opera cake and jamon y queso sandwich. They're definitely better at their coffee and pastries than they are at their sandwiches and wraps. Be aware that you need to grab a number in order to get served. Just standing in line gets you nowhere. This is a great place to grab a quick bite, chat with a friend over coffee, or get your study on. Many locals frequent this place. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Be aware that there is at least a $5 minimum to use your card here.

Delicious, ordered a tarta de espinaca and my husband ordered a sándwich de milanesa. Both were fresh and tasty. My café con leche was just right for polishing off our meal with a yummy dessert. Restaurant is busy, seat yourself, take a number to order but service was friendly.

Stayed at the condo across the street. My daughter loved the crispy croissants glazed with sugar, and son adored the dulce de leche Churros! I LOVED the carne empanadas! Coffee was great. The selection of sweets was amazing and that's all my husband noshed on. I love this bakery, good prices, fresh food...nice little oasis. Can't wait to go back!

  • Elle K.

I have been back to Buenos Aires Cafe multiple times since the last review to cure an ailing sweet tooth. I am proud to say the service has dramatically improved, and the coffee is consumable. Although, they will charge you for a cup of hot water, which is a bit absurd.

  • Vanessa H.

Just thinking about all the flaky pastry goodness at Buenos Aires Bakery is making me hungry!! The facturas here are so good. The empanadas and alfajores (my go-to Argentinean snacks) are decent. If you want something fatty and delicious get the rosca con chicharrones. It's like a savory pie crust shaped into a wheel with little pieces of pork goodness running through it. Love it! The pastries are best in the morning so go early!

  • Semra E.

Buy one of everything here from their bakery....just be prepared to wait for awhile since everyone else is trying to do the same thing. Make a stop in the morning for their yummy danish & Cappuccino :-)

  • Maxine V.

Empanadas and cafe con leche....need I saw more? The churros were good but unfortunately they were also cold.

    (3)
  • Allison J.

The croissants were extra buttery with a little sweet that either plain or with ham and cheese so wonderful. Unfortunately the service was very slow and the prices a little steep. But every bread-like pastry we ordered was buttery and fresh. I liked the spinach empanada most compared to the chicken and caprese. That's not to say the others weren't good though. I'd recommend coming here for a cup of coffee and ordering some buns filled with cream and a couple ham and cheese croissants. I'm salivating just thinking about it.

  • Michael And Angela P.

Pros: bigger space, lots of seating, A/C to ward away the Miami heat, lots of choices, English-speaking and patient employees. (And CNN on the screen!) Cons: Super busy at noon. So much so that it took us 10 minutes before we saw that those who were being served had tickets and were being called. (But only a few minutes more until our number was up.) We walked the two blocks here to compare to Moises. All in all, good chicken empanadas -- but not better, stronger coffee, and more personalized service (no, I don't want real sugar in my coffee, I'll add the sweetener in myself, but thanks for asking).

I love this place! empanadas, cafe con leche and the pastries are amazing! truly Argentinean taste

We were in Miami ridiculously early a couple of weeks ago and were in the mood for empanadas. Our decision to come here for empanadas was largely determined by the fact that it was one of the few places open at the time. I'm glad we did. The place is very clean and very spacious. A lot of seats available, which was good because we were also looking for a place to watch Netherlands beat Denmark. They have a HUGE selection of pastries and other baked goods. Seriously, there is so much to choose from. We, of course, came for the empanadas and boy were they delicious. They were all good; I don't think I disliked any of them. My favorites were probably the beef and the caprese, but there was one other one that I really loved that has slipped my mind since we went there. Since we were there and it was early, we also did try some of the other pastries. Also delightful. Definitely recommend. The food is great, there's a lot of seating, and the people are very nice.

Mostly good and a little bad for me. The bad: I asked for two baked chicken empanadas. The attendant confirmed they were baked. But when the empanadas are made with so much oil mixed in, even if not immersed in the fryer, they may as well have done that. So if you don't like your empanadas oily, don't come here. The good: I brought the empanadas back to the counter. The attendant offered to exchange them for a pasqualina which was more expensive. The good: I had one of their chocolate mousse squares. Rich, fresh and satisfying.

Solid looking Argentinian bakery. The pastries and cakes look delicious and at affordable prices (I would imagine great for entertaining). However both the regular and the dulce de leche filled churros were a disappointment. Barely flavorful and not fresh and piping hot as I hoped. Even nuking them in the microwave and dunking them in either hot chocolate or a Cuban cordita didn't save them. Nevertheless I wouldn't discount them as a good bakery. With the large crowd and the long wait I expect them to be good.

Husband and I stopped here to grab some empanadas while on a neighborhood walk. They were awesome. This is the first bakery I have been to where the baked empanadas were actually better than the fried ones. I have been hard pressed to find baked empanadas that wow me and this did the trick. I walked by there just today too and people were sitting outside enjoying so many awesome looking savory and sweet baked goods that I might have to go back and visit again soon!

It was very good and very busy! We went for breakfast and it's complete craziness. You have to take a ticket and get your number called to place an order but it's very hard to even figure that out. We stood there for about 10 minutes before we could even figure that out. Everyone was confused. Also, I hope you know spanish or at least a little bit because I don't think anyone spoke English or at least not very well. I'm just glad my wife speaks fluent Spanish or else we probably would've had to leave hungry.

A must must must!!!!! No matter where I'm staying in Miami I will make a stop here for breakfast! The Cafe con Leche one of the best, pair that with a Media Luna or a Churrro con dulce de leche and you are ready to start your day!! Happy Eating......

I've never been to the city of Buenos Aires, but if this shiny clean and delightful bakery is representative of the eating establishments there, sign me up for a trip! We went there after spending some time floating around in the somewhat crowded but gorgeous waters of North Miami Beach, and were both pleasantly tired and somewhat burnt by the sun (nice, but when will I learn I'm not in L.A. any more and wear more sunblock?). I was a bit skeptical about having lunch in this unpretentious but somewhat elegant eatery in what was clearly my bathing suit cover-up and decorated by a nice coating of sand, but we were hungry and gave it a go. All my fears were allayed by the mixed crowd of beach goers, local residents, and dapper Argentines hungry for some pastries and sandwiches. And what pastries and sandwiches! Not as good as the French variety, but my chorizo sandwich had bite, snap, and juiciness, and was brimming with fresh herbs and garlic taste. The sandwich bread was also delicious and very delicate and fresh. I understood my affinity when I later noticed that the last name on the bakery boxes was Italian. But of course, she said chauvinistically...my people know how to do bread right! We were enjoying ourselves so much (great people watching) that we just kept ordering little pastries. The donut filled with sticky and goopy "caramel" cream (basically sweetened condensed milk that had been baked at a high temperature) was a miss, but my pan dulce was a delicious combination of panettone and fruit cake, and K's little croissants were pronounced heavenly. I must say that a great deal of the pleasure derived from sitting in this cafe` comes from the European ambiance, the *low* level of the soccer games playing continuously on flat-screen TVs, and the gleaming marble floors and counter tops. I kind of liked the "take a number" approach at the pastry counter but wish that the friendly-ish counter girls had a better grasp of our national (ahem) idiom. They're young and should be learning, and dammit I want to know what's inside that pastelito!

Huge and wide selection of baked goods Very nice and accommodating !!! A lot of these bakeries the staff is rude This is an argentine bakery with a wide variety of items !! We enjoyed the dulce de leche items, cheesecake, hot chocolate and more. The donuts with cream are divine !! Also the spinach quiche is the bomb !!! They offer to warm items up for you and are very nice . They translate as well The downfalls are that the flan is flat and mediocre Also there is no crema Catalana or fresh juice machines . South Miami has a lot more Hispanic bakeries of course . I have to say to that the flan and other baked goods at the Cuban bakeries are better !! Unfortunately the service Patience and translation don't match there.

We came here early in the morning during the week and the place was empty. I love bakeries and baked goods a lot! We were on vacation and about to drive to the Florida Keys. So we didn't have time for a full sit-down breakfast. After looking at the counters and seeing lots of pastries, I found a thing for breakfast sandwiches and got excited. The employee at the counter was training a new person so we stood for about 5 minutes waiting while other employees ran in and out of the kitchen. Finally somebody stops to help us! We try to order breakfast and they say the kitchen is closed. So I ordered coffee and a pastry. I left my fiance to pay for it and had to move our car.... I think we parked in a loading zone and didn't want to risk a ticket. When I come back from moving the car, he's still at the counter but now looking at the breakfast menu. In the time it took to move a car, the kitchen opened up. Okay great! We each ordered a breakfast sandwich and a pastry. For me, the coffee wasn't that great. I expected something a lot better and had coffee the previous day elsewhere, so maybe my expectations were too high. The breakfast sandwiches were a little smaller but they tasted pretty good. The pastries were awesome tasting! So I think that the bakery stuff was good, but the service a little confusing. The kitchen decides to open before we can complete our order.... and that just doesn't make sense to me. I would try again if I am back in Miami Beach soon, but not the best bakery experience I've had!

Best bakery in the North Beach area. I am on a mission to try everything on the menu... So far I haven't tried anything I didn't like! To avoid confusion or frustration there is a number system in place for placing orders. Make sure you grab a number as soon as you walk in.

I do love this place, but have two problems with it, which each cost them a star. 1) they are expensive, especially when compared to Moises one block over. They are a nicer set up with better eat in experience then Moises, BUT I have also yet to find an employee there who speaks English. This can be frustrating because they are almost always crowded and while they serve by a number system, it is easy to get skipped when you don't understand the language. And with the prices they charge, I feel that the customer service experience should be better. For all customers.

Items Selected: Ham and Cheese Empanada Entremets - Tres Leches Cake, Dulce de Leche Horn, Chocolate Caramel Square, Caramel Peanut Butter Cake Dulce de Leche Croissant Dulce de Leche Cream Puff Egg Custard Danish Guava Danish Cream Cheese Danish The second stop on a morning trek towards Tampa Bay, Buenos Aires Bakery proved to be a destination sort of place for someone with an intense interest in traditional ethnic pastry and whether Argentinean, African-American, Caucasian, Cuban, or otherwise the vast selection and friendly service seemed to put a smile on everyone's face while festive decorations and televised futbol pleased the eye. Far larger in size than one would expect from the street it is to a selection of nearly one hundred items that those entering the Miami Beach bakery are tempted and although ordering can prove to be a difficult process given the lack of signage and English-as-a-second-language nature of the staff those willing to take a chance are likely to be rewarded - the prices a veritable bargain for treats running the gamut from sweet to savory with several sizes offered to allow for substantial tasting regardless of appetite or party size. Focusing largely on items considered signatures by those 'in the know' it was with one piping hot fried empanada that our tasting began and with the pastry nearly choux-like in texture the fillings were creamy and smooth with nary a bit of oiliness to be found, a similar experience offered by the crispy caramel creampuff - essentially a profiterole packed with dulce de leche without suffering from sogginess at all. Moving next to a plate of petit-fours, each offering a single bite of one of Buenos Aires Bakery's well regarded cakes, suffice it to say that any event celebrated with the milky Tres Leches is bound to be a success and while the others were also quite tasty in their own rights none of them could rival a quartet of laminated pastries to follow - the soft buttery layers less crispy than French counterparts but the fillings each reference standard, the housemade guava jam and still-warm egg custard my personal favorites while my mother and aunt swooned over a cream cheese danish that walked a fine line between sweet and savory that the powdered sugar dusted croissant happily ignored.

This is a great place for pastries and some Argentinian goodies. There's a wide variety of pastries ranging from fruit flavored to chocolate to just plain creams. It might get overwhelming but you can't go wrong with anything. They serve breakfast specials and lunch, so you have a choice of something savory. And more importantly they serve coffee! The location is great, it's not far from the beach. And it's close to other dining establishments, so if you're looking for options on dessert, this is the place!

I live right down the street from this bakery and like it very much. I like to bring visitors here, as it gives them a feeling for the neighborhood. The medialunas are very tasty, and the sandwiches de miga and empanadas are great. I have not tried many of their desserts, as most of them look ultra-sweet and that is not really my thing. I did have their quince tart once, and it was good. I recommend coming here early, as it starts to get very busy after 10:00 am and the lines can be quite long. The ordering process can be a bit chaotic, even with their number system.

This is how I arrived at my 3 star rating: On a scale of 1 to 5, for quality they get a 5. For friendliness to non-Spanish speakers they get a 0. Therefore it seems appropriate they get an even 3 rating for overall experience. Regardless of how good the coffee, cakes and empanadas are, I cannot tolerate being treated as a burdensome customer especially considering the last time I checked, English is this country's primary language. That said, why should I feel like my dollar is less valuable at this bakery because I don't speak Spanish? I'd rather take my business to Manolo up the street where they are more diplomatic -- if they dislike English speakers, they keep their attitudes to themselves. Plus, their churros are way better anyway.

This place is a really nice coffee and sweets kind of place, it's always crowded when I'm there and the crowd is pretty persistent and getting their numbers called and not missing it, it gives a cool but rush South American vibe to it. They have plenty of space to relax indoors and outdoors and plenty of goodies to taste, but be aware or your catch yourself like me with a whole tray full of sweets that you can't eat at one sitting :) the coffee here is good but I only get the cafe con leche. I would like to order something new but I'm always afraid in Latin coffee places because I don't know the different Latin coffee drinks. It's not like a Starbucks where I can get a tall mocha vanilla whatever. The ladies who work there are nice and quick. The place always looks clean. If your looking for a place with some yummy sweets, or a nice breakfast sandwich, or a place to chat or blog then stop by.

Great pastries and sandwiches. Not my absolute favorite place simply because there are a lot of other things I like better nearby, but there are plenty of places to sit down here and the staff is pretty friendly. The coffee is really good too. All in all, I can recommend it.

I purchased a mate cup from here after spending about $30 in pastries. I live in the area and frequently come here. I bought the cup and try to return it because it had a hole in it and the rude server attendance said that without the receipt she cannot return even though i obviously bought it there since they had 5 other ones on display. After I tried to have her reason with me if she could please work something out, she refused to reasonn in a very negative way. I will never ever go back. Left her the cup with the hole as a present for her rudeness. Went to Moises Bakery, purchased one and they kindly told me that I could return it with no problem if it was defective. Managment: train your staff to measure complaints and to help a customer next time. Lost a customer for life for a $10 cup.

I love this bakery. The pastries are to die for and very authentic Argentinian. Best medialunas! I can't believe that another reviewer complained about the language... Is there anything more ignorant?! And I don't think that the other place she mentioned is Argentine- again ignorant and rude. Don't go to an ethnic restaurant if you want people to speak perfect English- go to Denny's. Getting back to Confiteria Buenos Aires- every time we come to Miami we stop here for breakfast. A nice cafe con leche with medialunas de manteca y de grasa, vigilantes, churros with dulce de leche... Mmmmm. For lunch, the sandwiches de miga- delicious and authentic sandwiches. Don't skip this place!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER DONT GO IN THERE if you'r not Argentinian don't even try to go they don't respect you or welcome you they just ignore you and treat you like a nobody.. They only serve their "Argentinian" friends and if you are waiting in line they will obligate you to take a "number" while they serve ALL they Argentinian buddies .... The food it's not even worth the useless time you spend in there THE STAFF IS RACIST

Love this place. GREAT cuban coffee and pastries. Not too pricey, but keep in mind they have a $5 minimum for credit/debit cards. My combo of coffee and one chicken empanada is jus under $5 of course so I have to get another empanada, but I'm ok with that because they are great. The place is in a great location right off the beach and in the mix of other shops and restaurants. The only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 is because of the ordering process. It's a little funky. You have to take a number like a deli. I feel like they do not do a great job of actually following the order, but on the safe side grab a number, they will call it and you order and get served. I always try and sit outside with the nice beach breeze!

Great looking bakery, good location, good service. I really, really, REALLY wanted to love it. Unfortunately, I can't. The cuban coffee was weak, more like a regular 'American' coffee, and my dulce de leche cheesecake had no flavor. I'm hoping to be able to go back soon and give them another chance. I refuse to believe such a great looking place can be so disappointing. Maybe I'll try some empanadas next time...

Enjoyed the chocolate dessert but can't say it was above and beyond. It was fine. I would eat it again but I can't say it is a must have but satisfies your chocolate craving. I will go back to try other chocolate things but I fear their chocolate is just like many many San Francisco Chinatown Bakeries - cocoa enough to not be a chocolate fraud but not true cocoa or fudge as advertised by looks!

I love this place! The one in Miami Beach is the best, the one in Pembroke is a no go. The facturas where old in Pembroke. I will not go back to that one, the one in the Beach is amazing and fresh. The place is always full and you have to get a ticket to get service, but it's totally worth it.

I come here for their pastries and they are excellent. However, I must point out if you do not speak Spanish you may have a bit of difficulty trying to order but you can just point at what you want: the servers and people behind the counter speak little English. They may also seem like they have an attitude when they are taking your order. Nonetheless, these are one of the best pastries I've had... A block away from this location, there is another Argentinean backery (Manolo) and in my opinion they have better churros at Manolo. The pastries at Manolo are also great. Try both!

3 1/2 stars. Legendary bakery in Miami by North Bay Village. Lots of seating and very nice staff. If you are craving for desert, cake, sandwich, cortadito, empanadas and anything inexpensive quick bites, this is a good place to stop. Plenty of public parking (free after 6pm I think) and its right by the beach. The empanadas are good (not enough meat) but I like La Estancia Argentina's better. The desserts here are endless so be prepared to not go overboard :) See my pics.

Was here today at 6/13 although they have good food there service is terrible.both of my friends ordered the same thing, one ordered Milanesa Napolitano con papas & was charged 8.99 & Clerk 6 (because they name tags they're just numbered) charged my other friend 19.99 & charged her ham & cheese & fries separately. When she was confronted ... She did not apologize, but instead defended her mistake.

Sooooo good! It's a real sh*t show when ordering. They call out the numbers and everyone is crowded around but they move on to the next number quickly so you have to be close to the counter or they will skip you...which adds to the crowded mob-like situation. really good sandwiches though

  • A S.

I like this place because they have some good little items... croissants, empanadas, miga sandwiches, decent coffee.... It's usually packed. You have to take a number and wait for them to call it. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it. Be careful if you order some hot sandwiches, they put mayo in there but it doesn't say anywhere! You can pretty much create your own sandwich and they'll make it for you. Food takes forever though, specially if they're busy. Lots of tables inside and a few outside. Public parking around the corner. Nice.

As Dione Warwick said, " If you see me walkin' down the street And I start to cry each time I've eaten an empanada at Buenos Aires Bakery and Cafe, walk on by, walk on by because the empanadas might make you die, make you die. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the food here. I had the chicken, ham and cheese, and spinach empanadas and they were all basically tasteless with run of the mill pastry shells. I was also disappointed with the iced latte. They serve it in a paper cup and don't use a lot of ice. The bakery items look enticing but I resisted the urge after the disappointing empanadas. The inside decor and tables are not very comfortable and you have to take a number to be called. So if you need a quick bite to eat and don't care about relaxing or a good meal, eat here, otherwise head somewhere else. So far, the best empanadas I've had on Miami Beach are at Panizza, on Lincoln Road west of Alton.

This place has mastered the art of Argentine confections, baked goodies and sandwiches. Aside from a super long wait (45 friggin' minutes -- it was Mother's Day after all) EVERYTHING we ordered was love at first bite. The sandwiches de miga are spectacular!!! Order them and take some home while you're at it. The empanadas are pretty ridiculous, too. The cakes they sell in the fridge (coated in meringue) should be outlawed (in a good way). The only dissapointment of the day, aside from the uber long wait, was the milanesa sandwich. Skip it. All in all, the place is about as authentic as it gets -- Miami-based Argies swear by it and eat there in droves. They even sell mate (digestive tea) and chocolates.

Stood in line for 10 mins to order a coffee and got no service. Slow staff, long line, bad service -- didn't get to try any food as no one bothered taking my order. Bummer. Walked out and went to the bakery up the street which was great! Would not recommend buenos aires unless you have a lot of time to kill.

I go here for breakfast at least once every trip to Miami. I love this place and their bakery items. A little hard to manage if you don't speak spanish. Make sure to take a number and wait for it to be called. Then prepare to yell your order out quickly or you may be passed up and have to take a new number. Fair, but brutal... so, be aware (and awake).

Worst service ever! This is a take away with no organization. It took me half an hour to get out of there and there were only 4 people in front of me. Remember they only have to prepare the coffee everything else is already made. The manager even walked in and saw the huge mess but did not care to do anything, if you see that happen you do not know what other surprises they might have for you.

I love this place, the sandwiches de miga are soooooo good. I love the empanadas de carne molida, they have a hidden green olive inside. They are so good. They have a nice selection of cakes for different occasions, a little pricey. But they're good, I had the flan for my bday and it was very good. Lots of pastries here, good cafe con leche. My husband always has the milanesa sandwich which is good too.

yes they are busy maybe i didn't get the right things, but i felt all of their baked goods were dry and not very fluffy tried their danishes, stuffed churros (dulce de leche), caramel sandwich cookie (wish it was more crumbly) the petit fours look cute now that the place has been remodeled, I tried it again a lot of baked goods now the argentine empanadas were decent -- particularly the carne ham and cheese, and the spinach ones were ok

If your looking for a place with some yummy sweets, or a nice breakfast sandwich, or a place to chat or blog then stop by.

Fancy pastries for a great price! Buenos Aires Cafe is perfect for lunch or just a snack. You literally can't go wrong. EAT ALL THE EMPANADAS but spinach is where it's at.

Great pastries and sandwiches. Not my absolute favorite place simply because there are a lot of other things I like better nearby, but there are plenty of places to sit down here and the staff is pretty friendly. The coffee is really good too. All in all, I can recommend it.

Big slice of tasty cheesecake for just $4.50. The coffee was good also. Nice atmosphere. Hope we have a chance to come back!

Great little bakery. If it's your first time be sure to pick a number or you'll wonder why everyone is jumping in front of you in line.

    (5)
  • Claudio D.

Buy one of everything here from their bakery....just be prepared to wait for awhile since everyone else is trying to do the same thing. Make a stop in the morning for their yummy danish & Cappuccino :-)

Empanadas and cafe con leche....need I saw more? The churros were good but unfortunately they were also cold.

Not the best service, low sense urgency. Lack of organization at the register. Received the wrong order and very little customer service to make it right.

Nice.

Great quality pastries and coffee at cheap prices. The bakery has an intimate/local vibe. Recommended for a small breakfast or afternoon dessert. Also has good sandwiches.

What can I say I love this place. Very clean place and they have enough staff to take care of everybody. The quality is really good and the prices are reasonable. I always recommend this place to everybody I know. The BEST Argentinian bakery in south Florida.
